"For Eyes That See Hope": MAP Jordan Launches Fourth and Fifth Campaigns to Combat Blindness in Jordan

Amman, Jordan – [April 26, 2025] — With dedication to restoring sight and transforming lives, the Jordan Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP Jordan), in cooperation with Al-Basar International Foundation and Al-Khansa Hospital, proudly announces the launch of its Fourth and Fifth Campaigns to Combat Blindness under the slogan "For Eyes That See Hope."

This initiative will provide 900 free cataract surgeries to patients residing in refugee camps in Jordan. In addition to surgical care, the campaign will include the distribution of free glasses and essential eye medications, promoting a holistic and sustainable approach to eye health.

These latest campaigns follow the success of three previous missions launched earlier in 2024. The first campaign resulted in 399 successful surgeries, while the second and third campaigns collectively restored vision to an additional 923 patients. To date, over 1,300 individuals have regained their sight thanks to this joint effort.

“This campaign is more than medical outreach; it is a humanitarian commitment to restoring not just vision, but hope too,” said Shereen Shaheen, Executive Director at MAP Jordan. “Each surgery represents a new beginning—for the patients, and their future.”

The initiative’s core objective is to eliminate avoidable blindness among communities in need by delivering quality, accessible ophthalmic care. The slogan “For Eyes That See Hope” reflects the profound impact of vision restoration—empowering individuals to reclaim their independence and quality of life.
