Ophthalmology Clinic – Sukhnah Camp, Zarqa
Al- Sukhnah Camp was established in Jordan in 1969 on an area of 68,745 dunams in the village of Al- Sukhnah, north of Zarqa Governorate. It is home to 7,350 people, according to 2023 data from the UNRWA.
The camp suffers from a lack of specialized healthcare services, as residents rely on the services provided by UNRWA clinics, which include general medicine, dental, and gynecology clinics.
After studying the camp's healthcare needs, it became clear that there is an urgent need for basic healthcare, with a particular focus on eye care. Eye health is a vital aspect that requires special attention, especially in camp environments where deteriorating health and environmental conditions may increase the risk of eye diseases. The clinic provides regular check-ups and treatments for common conditions such as eye infections, contagious diseases, and injuries that may occur due to harsh conditions.
The opening of the eye clinic in Al- Sukhnah Camp represents a significant step toward improving healthcare and enhancing public health in the camp and surrounding areas. This initiative has provided needy individuals with access to essential medical services.
In the first half of 2024, 414 patients benefited from the clinic's services, bringing the total number of patients treated since its opening to 802.
