In the Heart of Gaza Camp in Jerash ... a day that tells the story of hope

News of the day:

In the heart of the Gaza Camp in Jerash, a different kind of day was born; it was a day that merged artistic expression with human resilience, between the sound of silence and the hope that speaks aloud.

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, the Union of Medical Care and Relief Organization – USA (UOSSM USA), in cooperation with Jordan for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP Jordan), organized an exceptional event that turned the camp into a space radiating life and generosity.

Art: The Language of Healing

The event opened with an art exhibition where children participated in art therapy sessions as part of the “Masahat Amal” (spaces of hope) project. Showcasing deep emotions and inner worlds through colorful paintings filled with symbols, houses, skies, and acts of kindness that transcended the camp’s borders.

Interaction and smiles:

The activities ranged from interactive workshops, collective drawing sessions, and play-based group sessions, providing children and families with a joyful, engaging experience that rekindled their sense of belonging and participation.

The ceremony also included a presentation showcasing the achievements of the Spaces of Hope project, which focused on promoting mental health within marginalized communities, creating a safe space for psychological and creative expression.

Silence speaks:

The most touching moment came during a silent stage act that portrayed the human journey through pain and healing. The audience interacted emotionally, many with tears and long moments of silence, as everyone found themselves reflected in that shared human story.

Message of the day:

From the heart of the camp came a clear message, “There is no health without mental health.”. Due to the reason in every painting and in every child’s gaze, Hope was the title. A hope that listens, supports, and believes that mental health is not a luxury, but a right for every human being.
