Map Jordan Launches Third Campaign to Combat Blindness in Jordan
Under the patronage of Dr. Ziad Al-Zoubi, President of the Jordan Medical Association, and in collaboration with Al-Basar International Foundation, Pious Projects, and Al-Khansa Hospital, the Jordan Medical Aid for Palestinians (Map Jordan) launched its third campaign to combat blindness today, Saturday.The campaign aims to perform 800 free cataract surgeries in Jordan as part of ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for eye patients in the Kingdom.
The event was attended by Dr. Ziad Al-Zoubi, Dr. Adel Al-Rashoud, Founder and Chairman of Al-Basar International Foundation, Dr. Waddah Al-Barghouthi, General Manager of Al-Khansa Hospital, Mr. Mohammad Hammad, Director of Pious Projects Office in Jordan, Mrs. Shereen Shaheen, Executive Director of MAP Jordan, representatives from the department of Palestinians affairs and representatives from civil society organizations supporting this humanitarian event.
This campaign follows the significant success of the previous two campaigns in collaboration with Al-Basar International Foundation. The first campaign, launched in January 2024, resulted in the screening of 3,600 patients and 399 cataract surgeries. The second campaign, held last week, included screening over 3,500 patients, selecting the most severe cataract cases for surgery.
In his welcoming speech, Dr. Ziad Al-Zoubi emphasized the critical importance of eye health, highlighting the urgent need for such precise surgeries to preserve vision.
Since its establishment in 1990, Map Jordan has aimed to provide primary healthcare services through health centers in various locations across Jordan. Map Jordan has treated more than 2 million patients to date, thanks to charitable donations and continued support from its partners.
